Be Mine

"The best things in life aren't things".  How true!  This is my second entry this month for Once Upon a Sketch.  I just found the quote so apprapo to this layout.  There is nothing like the well of love that springs forth when you have a child.  A feeling that lasts your life time and something that money can't buy.

Jot Magazine  has this marvelous mood board this month that was my jumping point for this layout.  I love the color combo, flowers and the use of alphabets.
MRDISRETROGREEN
I took old alphabet thickers and created my back ground with them. I added more texture with a polka dot mask.  They were originally pink so I went over them several times with coats of gesso.    I cascaded white and soft minty flowers down one side and flowed pearls down the other.  My goal was to keep everything soft and light in keeping with a little girl.  Here she is hugging a bunny.  It is only one of a few pictures I have of her as a baby.
This cute little cherub was originally gold.  So while I painted the frame white I just gave him a make over as well.

 A few close ups.
Thank you for stopping by to see what the papers are saying today.  I also enjoy and appreciate your visit and kind words.  Blessings, Kath

Family Postcard

This was taken just before my eldest daughter's high school graduation in 2002.  I wish I had a more recent photo of the four of us.  Now they are all grown up with their own lives and families.  Awww but time flies.

I simply enjoyed putting this layout together.  After putting in my first two layers I applied a mask for texture and interest.  Next I used a chicken wire stamp randomly then a bit of inking here and there and viola a master piece!  lol!!
I use a bit of burlap to frame the picture from behind and this gorgeous chipboard circle from Creative embellishments on top.
This lovely frame was first inked in brown than a coat of glaze dusted the tips with gesso and then green ink on top of that.
I just love the cutout ribbon!  I placed this heart chippie to give the effect of sea weed reaching down from the pond above.
Thank you for stopping by today to see what the papers are saying.  I always enjoy your visit and kind words.  I hope to see you as one of my followers in the future.

Just horseing around!

My daughter horsing around after her equestrian event.  I just had to make a vignette of her jumping over the hurdles with this fun Graphic 45 Topography collection.  Such fun!!

Time flees

Time flees....they sure do!  What happened to my baby girls?  They seem to be all grown up and flown away.  This makes me sad but glad all at the same time.  Sad not to have them near me all the time yet glad at a job well done in raising these two incredible young women.

Thanks for stopping by to see what the papers have to say today.  I always enjoy your visits and kind words.

One little Indian boy

I have waited literally years to come up with the perfect design for this layout using these stickers.  I am working on a special scrapbook for my son who will become a first time dad this month!  I want his son to see what he looked liked as he was growing up.

You know those little bits and pieces that fall off of your chipboard?  Well here I have used them as texture pieces on my layout.
Thank you for stopping by to see what the papers are saying today.

Post card

You've got mail!  A post card from adventures near and far.  I have always been an avid reader so when Inkido came up with this mood board about books and rich neutral colors I had to join in on the fun.  In today's world it is all about tweets and short clips for reading so I choose to focus on short stories like a post card.
My journaling is on the back and talks about what a fabulous birthday I had.  Normally my birthdays are sad.  But this year my hubby decided to plan a day trip that I have been wanting to do for six years!  He took me on an old fashion train ride from Grapevine, TX to the stock yards in Ft. Worth, TX.  It was an awesome day.  Once Upon A Sketch challenge "The best things in life aren't things" was so apropos to my  trip.
